DPA Patents
Microsemi offers select FPGAs with a sub-license to the DPA patent portfolio owned by Cryptography Research, Inc. The DPA patent portfolio describes a number of fundamental techniques used to mitigate against side-channel attacks, such as Differential Power Analysis (DPA). The sub-license allows the purchaser of these Microsemi FPGAs to use any of the patented techniques in the designs they create or buy and then load into the licensed FPGA. The protection techniques can be incorporated into the logic implemented in the FPGA fabric or in the firmware executing on a hard or soft microcontroller in the FPGA.
