DO-254-Certified IP
DO-254 (Design Assurance Guidance for Airborne Electronic Hardware) is a standard adopted by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for electronics that include FPGA designs intended for flight use. Our partner, Barco Silex provides a DO-254-certified ARINC 429 IP core targeted at Actel FPGAs.
Actel's ProASIC3 A3P1000 FPGAs have been chosen to integrate the Barco Silex BA511 ARINC 429 IP core in several instances in safety-critical commercial aviation programs, including programs rated at the highest Design Assurance Levels (DAL) prescribed by DO-254 (DAL-A and DAL-B). This underscores the inherent advantages of Actel's flash-based FPGAs: low-power consumption, high intrinsic reliability, and immunity to configuration upsets due to atmospheric neutrons.

The availability of the Barco Silex BA511 ARINC 429 IP design artifacts minimizes risk, time, and effort. This system-critical IP solution, combined with Actel's single-chip FPGAs, enables designers to quickly and effectively deploy DO-254 certifiable IP without spending valuable time and resources developing their own design artifacts.
