Symmetric Hardware IP Cores:
The symmetric cores include a broad array of ciphers and hash including AES (modes such as -CBC, -CCM, -GCM, - XTS), DES/3DES, SNOW 3G (for LTE and LTE-A) and KASUMI (for UMTS). Message authentication or hash algorithms are also available including legacy algorithms such as MD5/SHA-1 current algorithms such as SHA-2 as well as the authentication modes in SNOW 3G and KASUMI. Many cores are offered in a variety of performance options that tailor the solution to the performance objectives.
Asymmetric Hardware Cores:
For asymmetric algorithms, Elliptic offers support for both RSA and Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC). ECC support is offered for prime field (which is used in NSA Suite B applications) and binary ECC. Suite B support is offered for 384 and 521-bit prime field algorithms with legacy support of RSA operations up to 8192-bits to fully support NSA Suite B applications.
Bus Options:
Elliptic cores are offered as flow-through or look-aside engines. Flow-through cores generally operate in the data path in high speed applications such as Ethernet MACsec or Storage Security (IEEE 1619). Look-aside engine are offered with AMBA/AHB bus interfaces which are configured for master or slave operation depending on the throughput objectives.
Ellipsys Software:
Ellipsys is Elliptic's library of security software targeted at the embedded market. All algorithms offered in hardware are also supported in software. The library seamlessly supports substitution of software with hardware offload to enable customers to mix and match which operations are implemented in hardware.
The Ellipsys asymmetric library also supports operations such as encrypt, decrypt, sign, verify and key generation either entirely in software or offloaded to hardware. For asymmetric operations, the hardware offload engine offloads the mathematically complex operations (such as modular exponentiation for RSA and Point Multiplication for ECC) with the remaining elements of the algorithm being done in software. This is the optimum trade-off for overall performance and presents a fully verified solution to implementers of these very complex algorithms. NSA Suite B algorithms are fully supported in Ellipsys.
Ellipsys Secure Boot offers customer the ability to bring up an embedded processor in a known, secure state. This is accomplished through the cryptographic authentication (and optional decryption) of the boot loader and run-time software using symmetric or asymmetric algorithms as required in support of the system security requirements. The Ellipsys Secure Boot tool kit allows customers to tailor secure boot to their system requirements.
