The ProASIC3 Starter Kit is a complete package that enables you to quickly evaluate Actel's ProASIC3 family and prototype your design. Explore the various benefits of nonvolatile ProASIC3 FPGAs, including ISP, device serialization, and FlashLock® on-chip system security. Evaluate the performance and functionality of designs for cost-sensitive, ASIC-alternative applications.
The ProASIC3 Starter Kit is available in two versions with slightly different boards. Each version features a choice of two different parts, giving four variations altogether.
- "EVAL" version: Lower cost, intended for simple evaluation. It contains either a ProASIC3 or a ProASIC3E device directly soldered to the board.
- "PROTO" version: Intended for prototyping and contains a board that has a socket with either a ProASIC3 or a ProASIC3E device fitted in it. The fitted device can be replaced by other PQ208 packaged devices in the ProASIC3 or ProASIC3E families, as well as ARM-enabled ProASIC3 devices.

The ProASIC3 Starter Kit includes the following:
- Evaluation board with an A3P250-PQ208 or A3PE1500-PQ208 device
- Eight I/O banks for ProASIC3E (six for ProASIC3): two can be independently set to 1.5 V, 1.8 V, 2.5 V, or 3.3 V (one for ProASIC3); four are fixed at 3.3 V (applies to ProASIC3); and two fixed at 2.5 V (applies to ProASIC3E only)
- Clocks: Oscillator for system clock and manual clock option are provided
- Eight LEDs and four switches: Provide simple inputs and outputs to the system
- LCD display module
- Two CAT5E RJ45 connectors for high-speed LVDS communications
- Two programming headers: Support in-system programming (ISP) of single and JTAG-chained boards using FlashPro3
- FlashPro3 programmer
- Portable and ultra-small form factor
- Power source via USB 2.0 connection
- Includes FlashPro software, user's guide, and programming cable
- Actel Libero IDE software CD
