| Scenario: |
| |
Creating, renaming, editing, or deleting an EDIF source
file when Designer is opened with the EDIF file imported and/or
compiled. |
|
| Symptoms: |
| |
You may observe that the EDIF source file is not updated after
re-synthesizing when Designer is open along with the EDIF file.
Also, it may not be possible to manually update or delete the EDIF
file when Designer is open. |
| Description: |
| |
A sub-process within Designer is responsible for
releasing the EDIF when it is not actively used by Designer. In
the affected versions of Designer, the sub-process fails to release
the source EDIF after import and compile. As a result, the operating
system prevents the file from being accessed. This behavior could
persist even if the design is closed in Designer but the Designer
software itself remains open. |
| Solution/Workaround: |
| |
Close the Designer window before you re-synthesize the design.
This behavior is restricted to the EDIF netlist format only. New
releases of Designer give a warning message when the file is locked.
