Designer v6.2 Service Pack 1 (SP1) Release Notes
(August 15, 2005)
Thank you for your interest in Actel's Designer FPGA physical implementation
software. These release notes outline various updates in the v6.2 SP1
software.
- STAPL generation has been turned on for A3P250 devices in this release.
STAPL generation is now enabled for the A3P250 and A3PE600 devices.
- Changes have been made in ProASIC3 place and route:
- All A3P and A3PE designs EXCEPT A3P250 having gone through layout
with Libero/Designer v6.2 (i.e., having a 6.2 .adb file) will automatically
be put to pre-layout state (previous layout reset). Designs must
be re-routed in the Incremental Mode. You must check "Route Incrementally" in
the layout options box. There may be a small degradation of performance.
- All A3P250 .adb files created prior to Libero/Designer v6.2 will
be put to pre-compile state. Designs must be re-compiled and run
with full layout. Timing constraints are preserved, but physical
constraints will need to be re-entered.
- RT54SX-S and RTSX-SU AFM updates improve programming yield:
- AFMs generated with v6.2 SP1 require Silicon Sculptor v3.90-(DOS)/v4.53.0
(Windows) be used for programming. Applies to all RT54SX-S and RTSX-SU
devices.
- Buffer insertion for SX, SX-A, eX, RT54SX-S, RTSX-SU, and RTAX-S
families. During compile, C-cell buffers are opportunistically added
on data paths of registers clocked by routed clock networks where buffers
can be inserted. This change improves hold-time margin on these data
paths. New designs will automatically have buffers added. Existing
designs must be re-compiled. Do not use Incremental FIX option for
placement, as performance may be degraded. When these buffers are inserted,
the utilization report will show a section entitled "Routed Clocks
Network Analysis." Because of this change, overall utilization
may be higher than expected.
Designer v6.2 SP1 requires a current Designer v6.0 or v6.1 license.
Items in this section relate to previously published workarounds
for known issues. Workarounds are no longer required for the following
issues:
Designer v6.2 SP1 does not address any published Known Issues or work
arounds.
