CoreConsole IP Database Update v1.3.0007.0824 Release Notes

(Aug 24, 2007)

What's New in this Update

This IP database update installs the following cores into your CoreConsole IP database:

* Indicates cores included with CoreConsole IP Database Update v1.3.0007.0723. If you do not have CoreConsole IP Database Update v1.3.0007.0723 installed, then these cores will be added to your CoreConsole IP database now.

Cores not previously included in IP Database Update v1.3.0007.0723 have been updated to support IGLOO/e (IGLOO and IGLOOe) FPGA device families.

CoreAhbSram v1.3.103 adds 8 kbytes as an option to the Amount of internal SRAM required configuration setting.

System Requirements

You must have a working, licensed version of CoreConsole v1.3 installed before installing this IP database update.

Please refer to the Actel website for instructions on downloading and installing CoreConsole.

Licensing

CoreConsole v1.3 requires a CoreConsole node-locked license and a SysBASIC Subsystem IP license. A new license can be obtained for free from Actel's Software Licenses and Registration System.

Your existing CoreConsole license and any licenses you have for existing cores will continue to work with this update. You may need to obtain new licenses for the new or previously unused cores installed with this update in order to generate the cores in certain modes, such as obfuscated RTL mode or clear RTL mode.

Cortex-M1 can be used (instantiated, configured, stitched and generated) immediately without the need for any additional license to be installed.

Known Limitations and Workarounds

  • Cortex-M1 is listed in CoreConsole as CortexM1 (no dash) and the Verilog module/VHDL entity name for the core is CortexM1Top.

  • The IP cores listed below, which are included in this update or in CoreConsole v1.3, do not have full register descriptions, and they may not appear correctly or at all in a memory map view of a design (View > Memory Map or after generating in <SoftwareExport>\<design-name>\MemoryMap.html):
Please refer to the relevant handbook for the register information when developing your firmware.

  • Documentation included in IP core packages installed into the CoreConsole IP database can be superseded by subsequent updates. Please check the Actel website for the most up-to-date handbooks.
  • Updating an existing core instance in a CoreConsole design to/from CoreAhbSram v1.3.103 or CoreUARTapb v3.1.105 using Actions > Change Version[s] does not migrate the existing FPGA device family setting. If this setting is not correct after using Actions > Change Version[s], then you will need to manually reconfigure this setting to the required value.
  • Updating an existing CoreUARTapb instance in a CoreConsole design to v3.1.105 using Actions > Change Version[s] will disconnect some signals. Use Actions > Auto Stitch to reconnect AMBA related signals and then manually reconnect any other signals that were removed (for example OVERFLOW, PARITY_ERR, RX, RXRDY, TX, TXRDY).

Notes
  • This update bundles all changes since CoreConsole v1.3 was released. As such, you do not need to install IP Database Update v1.3.0007.0723 if you have not already done so prior to installing IP Database Update v1.3.0007.0824. If you have already installed IP Database Update v1.3.0007.0723, installing IP Database Update v1.3.0007.0824 will not cause any problems.
  • The IP database update installer will automatically locate your CoreConsole v1.3 installation and will not install over any other version of CoreConsole.
  • If you have installed CoreConsole v1.3 multiple times, only the most recent installation will be automatically located by the database update installer. If you need to apply the database update to other CoreConsole v1.3 installations, you can manually browse to locate them when running the database update installer.
  • If the installer detects that this update has already been installed, the installer will ask for confirmation that you do actually want to reinstall it.
  • The update cannot be separately uninstalled, and can only be uninstalled as part of a full CoreConsole uninstall.
  • Your existing designs will not be affected by this update unless you chose to manually change component versions.
  • Nothing is deleted from your IP database. This update adds new versions of the components listed above.
  • Your existing licenses will continue to work for the cores you currently have.

Updating Existing Designs

For new designs or core instantiations no special actions are necessary as the default IP database filter view (Filter > Default > Close) ensures that the latest version of any core is used by default.

To update existing designs to use new versions of cores:

  • Run CoreConsole
  • Choose File > Open to open your design
  • Choose Actions > Change Versions, or right click a particular core instance and choose Change Version
  • The Change Versions dialog appears
  • From the Change To drop down, select the newer version of the core
  • Click the Change button
  • Choose File > Save to save the changes to your design
  • Choose File > Close to close the design
  • Choose File > Open to reopen the design
  • You can now reconfigure/regenerate the updated design
