Actel Achieves Quality Milestones with ISO 9001:2000 and QML Certifications
Awards Underscore Company Commitment to the Design and Manufacture
of Best-in-Class FPGAs
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., March 24, 2004 —
Actel Corporation (Nasdaq:
ACTL), a leading provider of programmable logic solutions, today announced
it was presented with the prestigious ISO
9001:2000 certificate by the Defense Supply Center of Columbus (DSCC)
after an extensive audit verifying the company's commitment to quality
management principles, including satisfaction and control of product
development and operational activities. Actel also announced that its
antifuse-based field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), including the
SX-A, MX and RTSX-S devices, received a QML
38535 certificate assuring compliance by Actel's products with the
stringent quality and reliability standards required for use in military
and space applications.
In awarding the ISO 9001:2000 certificate, the DSCC acknowledged Actel's
Product and Cycle Time Excellence (PACE) product development program
for the significant operational improvements that have resulted since
the program's implementation four years ago. The PACE program provides
a process-based methodology in which subprocesses, organizational structures,
development activities, techniques and tools are integrated to work concurrently
within a single framework. Adopting this model, Actel was able to reduce
design cycle times while maintaining high levels of product quality.
"It has been Actel's mission to continuously improve our operations,
procedures and product management systems in order to consistently deliver
high-caliber product to our customers," said Dr. Esmat Hamdy, senior
vice president, technology and operations. "The addition of these
quality milestones to our previous certifications enables Actel to better
assure our customers, particularly those in the military and space arenas,
that stringent processes and procedures have been adhered to when developing
Actel's best-in-class FPGAs."
Long committed to designing and manufacturing high-quality FPGAs, Actel
has received other important certifications recognizing the company's
dedication to quality and reliability. In May 1998, Actel was awarded
the ISO 9002 certificate. Actel also has a Certificate of Specification
Acceptance from Stack International that verifies Actel's acceptance
of the requirements of the Stack purchase specification. The program
is designed to help reduce costs and the risk of component ownership
in the telecom equipment, commercial and military avionics, consumer
electronics and sub-contract manufacturing markets. Additionally, Actel
holds a PURE (plastic encapsulated devices used in rugged environments)
certificate for its plastic quad flat pack (PQFP) package.
